Lori Petty Leaving Jail


31 May 2009 , Actress Lori Petty leaving jail early this morning after
was arrested Saturday night for felony DUI after allegedly hitting a skateboarder with her car.

The incident took place at around 9:00 PM in Venice, Calif. We're told both Petty and the skateboarder suffered minor injuries, but neither was taken to the hospital.

Petty was booked into jail at 1:21 AM on Sunday, and was posted $100,000 bail.

Petty was famous in the early 90s for starring in such movies as "Tank Girl," "Point Break" and "A League of Their Own."

Lori Lee Petty (born October 14, 1963) is an American movie actress.

Personal life

Lori Petty, the oldest of three children, was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the daughter of a Pentecostal minister. She graduated from North High School in Sioux City, Iowa in 1981 and worked for several years in Omaha as a graphic designer before pursuing acting. On May 30th 2009 Petty was arrested for felony DUI after allegedly hitting a skateboarder with her car and was held for $100,000 bail.


Career


Petty first became famous for playing Keanu Reeves' surfer girlfriend in the 1991 action thriller Point Break. Prior to that, she got her break starring with Richard Grieco in Fox's Booker.

In 1992, Petty was featured in the box office hit A League of Their Own which starred Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna. Petty played the title role in Tank Girl in 1995, which made her into a cult icon. Her other films include Free Willy and In the Army Now. She also co-starred in the television series Lush Life with her friend Karyn Parsons, but it was canceled after four episodes. Petty is also known for providing the voice of the supervillain Livewire on Warner Bros.' Superman: The Animated Series, and The New Batman Adventures.



Although Petty was originally cast as Lt. Lenina Huxley in Demolition Man, disagreements over the character's direction led producer Joel Silver to recast the role with Sandra Bullock.



Petty's directorial debut, The Poker House (2008) won awards at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
